DH 411 and DH 41-2 helmets
Latest update 2 February 2004Message 3043, Jun 19, 2001
Hi All
1. Negative that ! Gentex 411 (Single) visor was and has always been the basic
"Standard Issue" for all standard Aircrew Members. This Flight helmet can be
found in three (3) styles in Canada for Basic Aircrew or Joy Riders.
2. For the Fast Movers or Tactical the DH41-2 Dual Visor combo with the hard visor cover
was used and the standard Issue until the Gentex 190 with the hard visor dual visor and
the British P Mask was issued for use on the CF-18 Hornet in 1985/86. Prior to that it was
the Gentex DH41-1 with the flip up single visor like "Steve Canyon or Capt
Canada" wore during early 60/70's
3. The one on e-bay has a deck helmet is an error. Its a clapped out 411 single visor
Standard Aircrew member helmet. A very poor example indeed.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, WILDBILL
